Prince of Persia 2 is the best episode, change my mind

The Prince of Persia saga has always been one of the most beloved and enduring in the history of video games. The imminent return of the Prince has made me reconsider my approach to the saga, which began in 1995 with the very first chapter, borrowed from a cousin on a single floppy disk. However, it was with the second chapter that my love for the character and the story literally exploded.

I understand those who argue that the first chapter, seminal and extremely innovative for its time, is the best. ButI I often tend to appreciate more the evolution steps of the second, bolder, chapters (Halo 2, Quake 2, Half Life 2, Mass Effect 2, Monkey Island 2, and so on).

In the second episode, the settings are varied, vast, well contextualized by the story, and moreover narrated through proper cutscenes rich in wonderful ideas. How can we not mention the cliffhanger in the final scene?

When the first previews of the new Prince Of Persia 3D started to be published, I hoped with all my might that the narrative would continue from the ending of the second game. Instead, the disappointment of encountering a completely disconnected chapter, full of bugs and practically unplayable, was truly bitter.

The brand then continued with the first Ubisoft trilogy, of which I adored the second episode (strange as it may sound!) and with two other technically interesting but lacking in that inspiration that had allowed Ubisoft to revive the saga.

To this day, Prince of Persia 2 The Shadow and The Flame remains my favorite chapter, change my mind!
